You’ve submitted your resumé, photo, degree scan, and TEFL certificate scan to Hioffer.
What more could we possibly want?
A video. We want a video of you introducing yourself. It’s not too much to ask, right?
The schools need to measure your English ability and the sound of your voice. Some schools will require a self-introduction, but if they don’t, you’re welcome to make a video any way for some extra brownie points.
This is a great opportunity to really sell yourself to the school.
Here are some key points to include in your one-minute video:
- Name (duh)
- Where you’re from
- Why you’d like to teach English
That’s it. It’s really simple, but for some reason people run away when we ask for a video. We’re not asking for the Martin Scorsese director’s cut of your life, we’re asking for a one-minute webcam recording.
Here are some things to keep in mind while recording:
- Speak as clear as possible (your video is going to be viewed by a non-native speaker)
- Smile, smile, smile
- Be in a well-lit area
- Keep your accents neutral
- Be confident
Now, let’s set the record straight, do not upload your video to YouTube and send the link. The school in China won’t be able to view it.
You can upload your video directly when you register at Hioffer. It’s really easy. Once you’ve uploaded your video, the team will approve or deny it.
If you have any questions, let us know! Good luck! Don’t forget to smile!
