Working in China: Interview with Mary Blanche

Our series, “Working in China“, starts with a whirlwind visit and work holiday interview with Mary Blanche, Business Development Manager of Hioffer Philippines.  We sat down with Mary Blanche to ask her about her time in China, and we were not disappointed.  Take a look inside her beautiful working holiday in Beijing, China. Here is just a little what she experienced.

Which city did you visit in China?
Beijing! A city known for its modern architecture and its ancient sites.

How long did you stay there?
9 days. It was too short.

Give me two words that best describe China.
Modern and traditional architecture combined.

What is there to do in the city?
Visit its opulent palaces, temples, parks, gardens, walls, gates, art treasures, and universities.

What is your first impression of the city?
An ever-changing megacity rich in history but also truly modern.

What id you find most interesting there?
Richness in history. I feel fascinated by it all.

What did you find most challenging there?
Conversing with someone on the road, mall, or market. Younger generations could understand and speak English though.

What is the greatest lesson teaching in China has taught you?
Everyone deserves love, respect, and acceptance. Let’s focus on what we have in common. All race is equal.

Work you recommend China as a go to place for aspiring English teachers?
Undoubtedly, yes!

Would you go back in the country again?
Yes! I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
